Basic Baseball Statistics Calculations
AB/HR - At Bats per Home Run
Measure of how many at bats come between each home run hit by a batter.
At Bats divided by Home Runs
BB/K - Walk to Strikeout Ratio
Measure of how many times a batter walks compared to strikes out.
Base on Balls divided by Strikeouts
OBP - On Base Percentage
Measure of how many times a batter reaches base successfully.
Times batter reached base (H+BB+HBP) divided by (AB+BB+HBP+SF)
OPS - On Base Slugging Percentage
On Base Percentage + Slugging Average
SB% - Stolen Base Percentage
Measure of how successful a runner is at stealing bases.
Stolen Bases divided by total Stolen Base Attempts
SLG - Slugging Percentage
Total Bases divided by At Bats
TB - Total Bases
Measure of how many total bases are reached by a batter based on type
of hit.
TB=1B+(2*2B)+(3*3B)+(4*HR)
XBH - Extra Base Hits
Measure of how many times a batter gets a hit the results in a double,
triple or home run.
2B+3B+HR
